Target Audience
Target audience for our game will be around 11+. This is because of people at that age in school would have probably heard about climate change. We would have made the target audience 7+ but people around that age usually know little to no information on this topic but a high school person at 11 and over would more likely understand the topic of climate change.
Our board game inspiration
Monopoly is the inspiration for our board game and the board itself will look just like a monopoly board but with a slight twist. Instead of being rectangular it’s going to be a hexagonal board of the china map. This would mean that the game is based in china just because it has a lot of Co2 emissions.
Population of china
Population: 1.43 billion
China is the largest country in the world so this is why we thought that it would be good to have a map of china and have different locations on our game board that people can go to.
Why we picked china?
The reason why we picked china is because it’s a country that emits the most greenhouse gases. They account for approximately 27% of global GHG (Green house gas) emissions. The people in china and there actions home and away have a massive impact on climate change.

Climate change today is recognized as one of the most biggest threats to our planet and it’s biological diversity. This can also have big effects on health for animals and humans as well as without trees we can’t breath so we need to keep planting trees so we can breath in oxygen.
The graphs above and other evidence that is out there clearly shows just how the emission of GHG( GreenHouseGases) mainly Co2 going into the atmosphere is a result of our own human actions. This includes things such as fossil fuel burning for energy, transportation and a lot of other ways as well.
Even today we are already seeing the effects of climate change, with common extreme weather conditions such as flooding which recently happened in rotherham, droughts, storms and of course many more weather conditions.
There are some climate models out there that can predict sea levels to go up because of melting ice caps with bad consequences of low – lying areas.
“There has been a 30% increase in ocean acidity since the Industrial Revolution. This has been caused by our oceans absorbing more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.”
“16 out of 17 of the warmest years ever recorded have occurred since 2001. Overall, the planet’s average surface temperature has risen about 1oC since the late 19th century.”
Our team decided that we aren’t going to have the china map on our board game and instead of that we are going to have a random generated place. This allows for more options for the player to have instead of just sticking to one design.
